Hikvision Releases Camera with 25% Less Spyware

Hikvision, a partially state-owned manufacturer and supplier of video surveillance equipment, announced that it would release a new camera with considerably less spyware than any camera in their current line up. The 4MP outdoor-rated IP camera with H.265+ video compression features new privacy-focused settings that allow installers to cut down on the amount of data that is sent back to China. “In the past, our cameras would spy on you all the time,” said a Hikvision spokesperson. “Our engineers found a way to prioritize these incredible features to be processed between video frames so that only useful data is transferred back to the CPC offices in Beijing.” Hikvision expects that customers will love these new privacy-focused cameras. Privacy+ enabled cameras will begin shipping later this year.
